Beach Near the Capital: A Family-Friendly Spot

This beach near the capital – Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a great pick for families with young children. Mostly to its gradual entry into the ocean. With breakwaters keeping the waves at bay, the water stays calm and shallow — perfect for little ones.

Just watch out for the wind, which often picks up and can be a little uncomfortable. We know from the locals that wind speeds of over 11 m/s can be very unpleasant. Best to check the forecast or webcam before heading out.

And if you’re an adult hoping for a proper ocean swim, you might be left wanting. It’s more like a swimming pool experience.

Easy Parking

We were impressed with how easy it was to find free parking. We come here regularly and always find a space, although it can get a bit crowded at weekends.

Golden Sands and Palm Shade

What makes this beach truly stunning is the golden sand, imported straight from the Sahara. With the palm trees offering shade, you could almost mistake it for a Caribbean escape.

Really Full Amenities

You’ll find plenty of bars, toilets, showers—everything you need for a relaxing day out. Umbrellas and hammocks for rent, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try out some nautical rentals.

What really stood out for me was how family-friendly it is, with accessible facilities like amphibious chairs and designated parking.

Ice cream and Playground

If you’re up for a walk, head over to the nearby town of San Andrés. It’s within easy reach.

We have a little ritual: after a sunny day at the beach, we grab a favorite ice cream at Bambola and cool off in the playground under the trees.

There are few solid restaurants to check out as well.
