Longing for Tall Trees and Cool Air
After couple of really hot sunny days, we had the urge for the forest. You know, towering trees, pine needles, and cooler air strikes. We found all of that in the Corona Forestal National Park.
The place is a haven of abundant greenery. A variety of hiking trails, many of which are stroller-friendly.
What a great combination for a family like us!

Choosing Our Path: El Gaitero
We decided on a short walking route from El Gaitero. Parking here is easy. No need to stress about that.
As soon as we arrived, not only the kids were thrilled with the giant pine cones and pine needles!
Besides that there’s a lovely viewpoint along the trail. Perfect for a quick rest and some scenic photo, ops. (guilty pleasure)
Nature’s Playground For the Kids
The children get lost immediately in the natural playground provided by the forest. Pine needles, sticks, and huge pine cones.
We often forget how nature can be the best playground.
Scenic Beauty For the Adults
The trail provided a refreshing break from the hustle. The fresh cool air with the towering trees. Ohhhh! I can feel it even now, while writing. And that viewpoint? Absolutely worth the short hike.
Next Stops: La Orotava or Candelaria
After soaking in the forest vibes, we recommend heading to either Candelaria or La Orotava. Both towns are stunning and offer their own unique charm.
Candelaria, with its beautiful basilica, and La Orotava, with its historic streets and gardens, are both must-see destinations.
La Orotava had a bonus for us, because we found Slow Coffee – The Specialty Coffee Warehouse!
Exactly What We Needed
Our day at Corona Forestal was exactly that. The kids loved playing with the pine cones and we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings with the fresh, cool air!
The viewpoint along the El Gaitero trail offered a perfect spot to take in the beauty of the forest.
Visiting La Orotava afterwards, especially the coffeeshop could not be better.
It is the perfect blend of nature and easy hiking, with a bit of local charm thrown in.
