Playa El Bollullo

Exploring Bollullo Beach

The secluded and little-known black beach of Bollullo lies right next to Puerto de la Cruz. Access to it is not easy, but it’s still worth a visit.

You have two options: you can either walk from Puerto or approach by car and then descend half a kilometer on foot.

Our visit to Bollullo Beach was a mix of adventure and tranquility. The drive was a bit tricky, but the views along the banana plantations were totally worth it. Even better to walk there!

The waves were mesmerizing, and although we couldn’t swim, just sitting there and soaking in the NATURAL BEAUTY was ENOUGH.

The beach bar provided just the right refreshments, and the walk from Puerto de la Cruz made us feel like explorers discovering a hidden treasure.

Getting There: A Mini Adventure

The road by car is winding and narrow, making it more challenging for inexperienced drivers. You can park only in the paid parking lot at the Bollullo beach restaurant.

From here, a pedestrian path leads along the banana plantation and then up the stairs. The views are beautiful, and the journey itself feels like an adventure.

Walking from Puerto de la Cruz

If you have enough time, you can walk there from Puerto de la Cruz. It’s less than 4 km, which makes for a lovely hike. Just imagine the stories you’ll tell! “We hiked to a secluded black beach along a banana plantation path.” How cool is that?

Big Waves and Beautiful Views

There are usually big waves on the beach, so swimming isn’t the best idea. But who needs swimming when you can marvel at those waves? Grab some food and drinks either at the beach bar or upstairs in the restaurant and enjoy the scenery.

Bonus Beach: Los Patos

Next to Bollullo is another beach called Los Patos, which is less accessible. Getting there requires a bit of a trek. We do not recommended it for small kids. It took us two attempts to reach it, as we weren’t well-prepared the first time.
